Circulation Policies of the Mary H. Weir Public Library

Borrowing policy

To check out any materials from out Library, patrons must have a valid Mary H. Weir Public Library Card, a Brooke County card, from Wellsburg, a Swaney Memorial card, from New Cumberland, or a Lynn Murray Memorial card, from Chester. Most library materials circulate for two weeks. Videos circulate for 2 days.

After the original two-week borrowing period, an item may be renewed up to five times for additional two-week periods, UNLESS there is a hold on it for another patron. No item may be renewed if another patron has placed a hold on it.

Holds and Reserves

Books or other items may be reserved or "held" on request. Once you are notified that your book is in, it will be held for three days. No phone reserves will be taken. Reserves may be placed at the Circulation Desk in person.

Cards are free to all residents of West Virginia. Cards for all out-of-state residents require an annual fee of $10 for Adults and $5 for children. Applicants for cards must show proper identification, such as a driver's license, checkbook, or utility bills with their current name and address.

Overdue fines are 5 cents per day per item. Overdue fines for videos are $2.00 a day per item.
